We Are Called To Love........

Today is Good Friday.  The day we recognize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all.  Normally, I reflect on Good Friday but since we know that Jesus rose 3 days later to give us life, I tend to focus more on that then his death.  But this year is a somber year for me and I wanted to take some time to talk about this day in particular.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were sinners, Christ died for us.

Every day, every day, we sin.  We lie, we covet, we commit adultery.  We gossip, we slander we......... Guys, I have been near tears all day long because our Savior died for us in hopes that we would love one another.  Be kind to one another, demonstrate patience, goodness, gentleness, be joyful, have peace among one another.......have self control (Gal 5:22-23).

Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1

And I don't know if it is because we feel condemned ourselves, but people, every day we condemn one another, we don't forgive each other, we get angry at one another and allow bitterness to set in our hearts and harden.

I guess I get it for non-believers, I hate that, but I am talking between Christians.  Among friends. Among loved ones.  And believe me, I am not righteous in this situation.  I am just as guilty as the next person, but this has hit me so hard in the last few days.

I look to my left and to my right and long term friendships could be lost over a simple misunderstanding.  Neighbors drawing a line in the sand and not talking....telling their children not to talk to their neighbors over things that are completely ones control. I went to walmart tonight and people were yelling at one another and yelling at the cashiers.  Does no one watch the news, North Korea is threatening to nuke the world, ie the US?!

1 Thess 5:2   ....for you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the LORD will come like a thief in the night.

I am grieved because we do not know the day or the hour.  It could be as you are reading this passage, and yet we fight over such frivolities!  Jesus came and went through so much just so that we are not condemned, so that we would have life.  He loves, he forgives, he gives grace even though we grieve him so daily, hourly, minute by minute.  Can we not do the same for one another?

My heart is broken right now because of some of the things I have recently struggled with, but on this day, I grieve the most because I know that is not how Christ intended us doing life together.

If you have someone in your life right now that you have allowed small things to get in the way, I urge you to step out and forgive, give grace and be the one to build an olive branch.  We are called to love.

And if you are in search of someone who will love you unconditionally, without condemnation and who you know is willing to die for you, because he already has....so that you might live.  Then I urge you to call on Jesus today; ask forgiveness of your sins, call him into your heart, and ask Jesus Christ to be your LORD and Savior!

Thank you Jesus Christ for who you are, for what you are done, and for giving us life!
