Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

Can you believe that we just passed Thanksgiving?  I can't.  This year has flown by.  And I am flabbergasted that it is already November, almost December!. Before this weekend passed me by, I wanted to take this time to give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!   Lord, I want to thank you for my childhood.  I was blessed to have a mom and dad who truly loved me.  They did their best to give me all that they could and ensure that my life could be more than the life in which they were raised.  We camped every weekend and spent every evening together, unless of course I was off with friends or playing sports.  Which almost never a happened. Not! Now don't get me wrong, there were issues, but there was no question that I was loved.  My mom has passed, but I know that she can hear me, so, mom, dad, "Thank you."  I love you both. Lord, for those whose childhood might not be such a happy memory, I would like to lift them up in prayer.  ...

Cheers for our loved ones that have gone before us.....

Cheers for our loved ones that have gone before us!  Yesterday marked the 16 year anniversary of my mother's death.  It seems like yesterday. While life goes on, I miss her so much and I lament the things she is missing out on.  And then I think, she isn't missing out on anything! God's Word tells us that he is our Creator (Gen 1:1).  The great "I AM."(Ex 3:14) I believe the bible is God breathed and it is truth to live by. (2 Tim 3:16)  So therefore, I believe in Heaven.  I also believe that our loved ones who have gone before us, are watching over us and are waiting anxiously for us to join them.  They are having a party with our Savior Jesus Christ, while we are down here struggling and being refined like gold, pruned by our Creator.(1 Pet 1:7) I know that many of you have lost loved ones: grand-parents, parents, siblings......children.  And I know you hurt.  Please know that in writing this blog, I am thinking about you.   Asking...

Beth Moore - "Audacious"

Image
I was blessed to go recently to a Beth Moore simulcast titled, "Audacious."  I got the opportunity to share it with my bible study group, but we did not get to finish it completely; and many others have asked me, "What was her simulcast about?" I will not be able to live up to Beth Moore and her character, but I thought I could at least do my best to summarize her main points.  I hope I do you justice Beth! She begins the simulcast with a familiar story from Gen 25:19-34; the story of Jacob and Esau.  We focus in on the section of the story where Esau, now a grown man, comes in from hunting, hungry. Meanwhile, his brother Jacob is cooking a nice pot of stew.  Esau is so exhausted and worn out, that he is overwhelmed by hunger.  All he can focus on is that pot of stew that Jacob is cooking...he wants that stew!  So much so, that he gives up his birthright (the lion share of the inheritance) to his brother Jacob for a pot of stew.  Beth Moore challen...

Happy Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's day!  I pray everyone had a wonderful day with their father, laughed, recalled memories, and simply enjoyed the simplicitys of life; spending time together.   For those of you who have lost your Father, I am sorry.  I know this day tugs on your heart.  I lost my mother, oh goodness, 14 years ago now. It still seems like yesterday.  To any father that might read this blog.....celebrate!  Everyone is taking a day out to recognize you! "Smell the roses," as they say.  I pray that you had a joyful time with each of your children.  For those children that you have lost, or for the prodigal son or daughter that has yet come home, my heart goes out to you. Know that prayers go up for them daily.  I know that I pray daily for all lost souls to come to Christ (our Savior loves them so) and I am constantly praying for unity for my own family and others.  What did Christ say?  Love one another...... But today I wanted to ...

Happy Mother's Day!

To all Mother's, Happy Mother's Day!!  And to all ladies, who are seeking to be a Mother, are unable to have a child or who have simply chosen to not go down that path, I would like to thank you as well. For ladies are miracles in the lives of many spouses, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and hopefully all children we come in contact.  For we are God's hands and feet. Today has been set aside for Mom's and I can say, from a woman watching from afar, ya'll can use some prayer!  Not because of your skill, but because this world is CRAZY!  I am in awe daily of mothers, especially Christian mothers trying to raise their children in an increasingly non-Christian world.  I applaud you and I pray for you every day.  My prayer is the same that Paul had for the church of Philippi, And now dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent a...

Helpful Tip - A Prayer a Day Keeps the Flaming Arrows Away

Since today's blog was all about having our actions be pleasing to God, I thought I would give a tip that helped me change my actions.  I mentioned in the blog that I struggled with getting my anger out through snide comments versus genuine "pure heart" discussions.  What I did was pray.  I sought out scriptures that I felt would help me in first calming my heart and secondly, taming my tongue.  :)  I wrote out, actually typed out (because my handing writing is awful), the scriptures on a 4X5 card and put it by my bedside.  I prayed each scripture one by one every morning and every night. The Lord was able to change my heart and my tongue.  To Him I am grateful.  When Christ was approached by Satan on the mountain and Christ was at his weakest, due to a 40 day fast, Satan shot flaming arrows into him.  What did Christ use to stop them? To shut down Satan?  The Word of God.  It's powerful. Happy searching for your scriptures to c...

Let your actions glorify your Father in Heaven.....

Ok, full disclosure. If this blog was a journal, it would begin, "Dear Lord, please help me change my attitude and actions so that I may glorify you in all things that I do."  I am not there, I am struggling along with the rest of the world, but sometimes the LORD has us write about things that we too struggle with, and that is the case this time.  Have you ever been somewhere and you saw someone acting inappropriately, and you noticed that they had a cross hanging around their neck.  What were your thoughts? I recently made a gift for a friend, well if you call painting a mug, "making."  But I did put a strong effort into the design and the painting mind you.  :)  I am not very creative with craft like projects; add in my health issues and these types of projects take time.  So, I was able to spend some time people watching. Do you like to do that?  I do. I found myself surrounded with people of all ages and pairings.  Mothers with child...

Persevere....we choose our fate

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial , because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12 First let me wish you all a belated Merry Christmas!  I pray all is well.  And here it is, January 1st, 2015.  Wow!  Happy New Year!  Boy this year went by in a whirlwind. I chose this scripture, or it chose me, because it is perfect for this season.  Right now, we are all looking back at 2014 and evaluating the carnage and the blessings, setting goals for 2015 and contemplating what this new year might have in store for us.  For some, 2014 was a difficult year. Maybe you had a death in the family, had a surgery, or perhaps you or someone you love received some unexpected bad news.  The bible is clear, whether you are a Christian or not, you will have turmoil here on earth.  When you read the book of James, he clearly states that we will face trials, but we must endu...

Helpful Tip(s) - To Stay Healthy

Updated 1/7/15 Happy New Year!  It is a balmy 33 degrees right now and flu season is underway.  I am not a doctor, but with my injury, sickness is my enemy.  My sweetie and I searched (through doctors and research) to find some things to help us stay healthy.  Here are the items we use: 1) L-Lysine: 500 mg (we currently have solgar brand); to improve immune system.  We use it all through the cold and flu season to keep sickness away and we have also found it helps to speed up recovery 2) Emergen-C: 1,000 mg Vitamin C (we use super orange) 3) Purell: we apply immediately after getting in the car from stores, visiting friends, etc. anywhere we might pick up a virus or bacteria (I know some people don't believe in this - we find it helpful) 4) Added: keep your hands away from your face, especially your eyes and mouth: easy entry points for bacteria 5) Added: at the hint of a sore throat, gargle with Listerine, multiple times a day.  A second option is t...
