Let's Blog!
So here I am writing a blog. Ha! That is quite funny actually, because, up until a few days ago, I didn't even know what a blog was. I mean, don't get me wrong, I have read a few blogs, I just didn't know until now that, that is what they were. :)
Then why am I doing this? Well a few years ago, I felt a pull from the Lord to start writing. But... you can ask those around me, I have been doing some writing; with my heals dug into the ground like a little kid not wanting to leave the amusement park. Although, I haven't been at the amusement park. It's been a fear of failure really. Can you relate to that?
My passion is to study the Word. Like most of you, I simply love the Lord. I love that He would give such an awesome gift as to come here, live in such a place that would do such things to him, horrific things...knowing what's coming. What God would choose to die for sinners in such a manner as crucifixion? No other! To be resurrected and to give us the same...eternal life, just by believing in Him. That is a God I can no longer drag my feet for, but I must Go Boldly and proclaim that he is Lord! I must follow my heart and do what I feel he is asking for me to do.
What is that? Well, not all is clear yet. It is my hope that we can discover that together. What I do know, is that I want to live my life for the Lord. It has become clear to me, that in order for me to do that, I must not merely listen to God's word, and so deceive myself, but I must do what it says. (James 1:22) And I must know in my heart that all scripture is God breathed and; therefore, is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training. (2 Tim 3:16-17) So, if I desire to be righteous and live a life pleasing to God then I must use His Word as my daily guide.
But let's be honest, living a life pleasing to God is hard work. Doesn't it seem sometimes like everything around us is telling us to do the exact opposite of what God is telling us to do? We feel overwhelmed, burdened to keep up with what we see on tv, radio, in the magazines. "You can lose 15 lbs in 10 days!" Let's just wrap this up in a nice ball that we can all relate to.....(Actress A), not yet married to (Actor B), has 20 kids, adopted 15 of them, has a full time career, is in perfect shape, is beautiful, makes millions, probably more than her husband and even looks great when she goes shopping for her groceries. She does all that and can you believe she is in her 40's and hasn't had a single piece of plastic surgery! Insert whatever name you want there ladies, there is your standard! How do you match up? I can tell you I don't fair well at all! Boy am I sooooo glad that is not the standard that my Lord has for me!!! You get the point. You are all living it. And it can feel lonely. Technology, culture, they seem to change or shift by the minute, don't they? How do you keep up? How do we make decisions? How do we teach our children to make good choices as they go about their day?
Let us be clear; we are all God's children. While everything around us is moving and shifting, Christ, Our Rock (Ps 40:2) is standing still. Unmovable. Unstoppable. His desire is for us to have a full and abundant life. (John 10:10) He wants to keep us safe, filled with hope, joy and happiness and to aid us in a long and prosperous future. (Jer 29:11) Is that not a life that you desire?
I know I do. The goal of any project in Go Boldly Ministries is to help each of us look at our struggles, our daily decisions through a different lens. Through the lens of God's word and; therefore, connect God's word to our daily lives, seeking the abundant life he desires for each of us. For this blog specifically, it is my desire to discuss topics that happen in our daily lives and pull them into the context of God's Word in the hope that we, as Christians, can be enlightened and encouraged to be "set apart" as God's beloved children. That we, may first, familiarize ourselves with what the word has to say about a particular topic and then; do what it says. And I pray that those who do not yet know Christ, can be intrigued to listen, share and perhaps open their hearts to the Savior who loves them.
I am including a section called, "Helpful Tips." It is a throwback to a time when women gathered to help each other to can foods, sew quilts, etc., and during that time, they would share their learning points or "helpful tips" to make their lives easier/better. I will try to share a new tip each time I post a blog, so please send me your ideas through the "Contact Me" section. I can't wait to hear your thoughts and share them with others!
At each post I will discuss a topic that has touched my heart and that the Lord has lead me to study; however, I want this blog to be a mere launching pad for discussion. I love to study God's word and I anticipate that this blog will be a great platform for me to dig in to many topics and allow the Lord to prune me and teach me. I feel so blessed to also have the opportunity be a part of your learning, to hear your thoughts, and to be a part of your discussions. I am so excited!!! I want to live a righteous life, pleasing to God, not just listening to His word but doing what it says. I believe our Lord will equip me, but I know I can't do it alone. What do you say, I am asking you, would you like to join me and do life together?
